Police in Dokolo have arrested 19 people for their alleged involvement in voter bribery.
The suspects were arrested this morning from Abong Ipale village, Adwila Parish in Kangai Sub-county. They were arrested from the home of Alex Owaka, the LC 1 chairperson for Abongt Ipale village.
Henry Aryang, the Central North Police spokesperson, says that the suspects all FDC supporters were found distributing money to voters.
One of the suspects, Lily Alwoch, was caught red handed with a bag containing 248,000 shillings.
On interrogation, she told police that Paul Amoro, the FDC candidate for the Dokolo Parliamentary seat, gave the money to her. She explained that her task was to ensure that the money is distributed to his voters as an inducement for support.
The police have also impounded two vehicles registration number UAJ 257C Toyota primo, and a pick up Sahara registration number UAH 587S.
The suspects are being detained at Dokolo Central police station and if not granted bond, they could miss out on the election.
