TRAINING OF POLL WATCHERS IN ARUA


Training of poll watchers (PW) of Arua kicked off at exactly 9:00am on 9th Feb 2011 at CEFORD head offices, on Arua -Kampala road. This involved the two divisions of Arua Municipality (River Oli and Arua Hill).

The training aimed at equipping the poll Watchers with the necessary skills in the election observation: These included, Electoral laws, code of conduct, how reporting is done and their personal security.

At around, 11:00am the training was joined by the European Union EU observers (Jose and Masu) who are responsible for west Nile and asked for team work and congratulated the people of West Nile for being peace lovers and expects this to continue up to election time. The EU observers also thanked CEFORD for the cooperation and invitation extended to them.

The training was attended by 75 participants, (68 Poll Watchers 2 Sub County level Observers and 05 staffs) and the participants were so attentive and contributed to the training and raised several issues regarding elections

The observers were attentive and seeking clarification on all issues that they didn’t understand well.
