Lack of Voting Materials Delays Polls in Mukono Municipality

Voting has delayed in Goma division and parts of Mukono North constituency because of lack of voting materials.

By 9am the voting materials had not yet been delivered to the polling stations leaving several voters stranded.

Francis Nkurunziza, Mukono District Returning officer attributes the delayed delivery of voting materials to the early morning drizzle.

In other polling stations where the materials were delivered in time several voters have been turned away as their names are not on the register.

Some of the voters were alleged transferred to different polling stations but were never informed.

George Yahweh says that, he registered at Maternity polling station in the recently concluded voter register update exercise.

He was however left speechless this morning, when he and four other voters when turned away from the polling station because their particulars were not on the register.

Yahweh says that he tied to raise the complaint with the polling officials but he was told there was nothing they can do for him because he does not appear on the register.

The candidates vying for the Mukono north parliamentary seat are Christopher Mpagi from UPC, Lukubira Bakubi FDC, Ronald Kibuule NRM and DP’s Steven Mutyaba.
